CHRISTMAS LESSON IDEAS & RESOURCES
Your very own little jar of exciting ideas for Christmas-themed lessons
Have you ever noticed how many pupils love playing Christmas carols and songs? Quite often they try and pick out songs they know by ear - we're sure you've heard Jingle Bells for example.
In this Christmas Box Sharon and Sally show you how to turn that sudden wealth of enthusiasm into a learning opportunity.
Sharon takes you, step-by-step, through some ideas for how to teach We Three Kings by ear. There are several, carefully graded activities making this suitable for a range of standards from elementary pupils through to early intermediate. Accompanying the video series are a set of printable resources, designed to accompany your pupils' learning.
If you've ever wondered what to do with real beginners at Christmas, who maybe have only had a few lessons Sally has got the answer with a Christmas-themed Sound Story. She explains how these stories can be wonderful starting places for engaging young pupil’s imagination and creativity at the keyboard. This also comes complete with a Pupil Workbook.
We’re Sally Cathcart and Sharon Mark-Teggart, Co-Founders of The Curious Piano Teachers – and we’re delighted that you’ve found your way to us!
Like you we are both passionate about teaching the piano. Between us we have many years of experience teaching children and adults from beginners to diploma level. We place making music at the heart of all our lessons and our pupils are encouraged to explore and discover music from many different angles. As teachers we love messing around with repertoire and exploring how to present musical concepts as it keeps our teaching vibrant and colourful.
As our own teaching has developed we have been increasingly drawn into sharing our knowledge and understanding with other teachers, helping them develop a more systematic and reflective approach to piano teaching.
To that end together we founded The Curious Piano Teachers. Through our online Community we have been working with piano teachers around the world, providing them with practical ideas and resources that are helping to transform their piano lessons.
Now we want to share our ideas more widely by offering on-line, self-study courses.
